Ten short words in each, across and down only, good for ages 5 to 8. Puzzle 1: tree, star, bell, gift, snow, elf, sled, bow, sock, toy. Puzzle 2: hat, coat, holly, pie, joy, noel, card, mitt, santa, ice. Younger children can look for the first letter of each word and trace along with a finger.
Medium word searches
Twelve words in each, across, down and diagonally, for ages 8 to 11. Puzzle 1: snowman, present, cookies, candle, wreath, angel, sleigh, carol, tinsel, ribbon, mittens, scarf. Puzzle 2: reindeer, chimney, stocking, lights, garland, penguin, winter, holiday, cocoa, pudding, icicle, pinecone.
Hard word searches for older kids and adults
Fifteen long words in each, hidden in all eight directions and crossing each other. Puzzle 1: reindeer, ornament, mistletoe, chimney, gingerbread, snowflake, stocking, candy cane, poinsettia, nutcracker, wreath, tinsel, sleigh, carols, fireplace. Set a timer and race at the table after dinner.
Tips
Circle each word in a different color so the grid stays readable. For a class, give everyone an easy page and the medium or hard ones to fast finishers. For a party, print one copy per team and give a point for each word found in five minutes.
